Eight sessions introduce students to pH, acidity, the interaction of airborne pollutants and precipitation, and the effects of acid rain on aquatic ecosystems. The unit concludes with a town meeting simulation in which four interest groups present their points of view regarding an acid rain problem. Integrates ecology, chemistry, and meteorology with other disciplines. Lots of lab-based activities, simulations, and projects for students.
