Mission Statement:  Coloma Outdoor Discovery School celebrates the culture, music, and folklore of the California Gold Rush using lessons of the past to awaken students’ interest and sense of responsibility for the environment.

Coloma Outdoor Discovery School (CODS) is a non-profit, outdoor learning center which has provided educational programs since 1990. Our campus is located on the banks of the South Fork American River, across from the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park.

Our residential programs offer one to four day programs in the following areas: gold rush history, science, and ropes challenge. We service public and private organizations throughout the state.
