Description: Global Systems Science (GSS) is an inquiry-based secondary level program offering student readings and discussions, outdoor field activities, laboratory activities, and community investigations to study the interactions between natural systems and human activities. Each module consists of a student guide and teacher guide, the latter offering assessment tasks, concept maps, teaching strategies, resources, and bibliography. For the purpose of this compendium, the following modules were evaluated: A New World View (Teacher's Guide [2001, 30 p.] and Student Guide [2001, 75 p.]), Ecosystem Change (Student Guide [2001, 84 p.]), Human Population Impact (Student Guide [2001, 82 p.]) and Losing Biodiversity (older version of Teacher's Guide [1996, 84 p.] and Student Guide [2001, 112 p.]).
