Ninety-six activities are organized within five themes: diversity, interrelationships, systems, structure and scale, and patterns of change. Appendices offer tips on dealing with controversial issues, multiculturalism, differentiated instruction, and using technology; organizations and agencies, and cross-referenced indices for activities. A supplement correlates activities to California Content Standards for Science, History-Social Science, English Language Arts, Mathematics, English Language Development and the Environmental Education Initiative's Environmental Principles and Concepts.
