Description:  Project Learning Tree (2006, 470 p.) is a pre-K-8 environmental education activity guide that uses the forest as the context through which students study the environment, its interrelationships, resources and the implications for management and sustainability, and forces that shape society and culture. Ninety-six activities are organized within five themes: diversity, interrelationships, systems, structure and scale, and patterns of change. Appendices offer tips on dealing with controversial issues, multiculturalism, differentiated instruction, and using technology; organizations and agencies, and cross-referenced indices for activities. A supplement correlates activities to California Content Standards for Science, History-Social Science, English Language Arts, Mathematics, English Language Development and the Environmental Education Initiative's Environmental Principles and Concepts. Spanish translations of the student pages and glossary are available.
