Description:  Counting on People (1994, 147 p.) is an elementary guide (grades 1-6) designed to increase student understanding of global population growth, resource use, and waste production. Activities are organized around eight modules that explore the meaning of populations, carrying capacity, basic human needs, the concept of crowding, the relationship between resource use and waste production, and the impact of human population growth on wildlife. All activities and readings in Counting on People are correlated to the California State Board of Education Content Standards. Correlations are available at www.PopulationEducation.org.
