Description:  Making Global Connections in the Middle School: Lessons on the Environment, Development & Equity (1994, 87 p.) focuses on the global concept of sustainable development. Eleven lessons examine the connection between the environment (resources and biosphere), development (economic, political, social, geographic and cultural factors), and equity (social justice and fulfillment of basic needs). Handouts and classroom activities explore the meaning of sustainable development and present historical case studies as a way to illustrate the connection between sustainable development and these "development" factors. Blackline masters, sample questions, definitions and examples of these factors are provided.
