Mission Statement:  The Shipley Nature Center is run by volunteers for the City of Huntington Beach. The Friends of the Shipley Nature Center is a volunteer group committed to saving and enhancing the Donald D. Shipley Nature Center -- an 18-acre site of wilderness located in the heart of Huntington Central Park. The Center is home to nature trails, an interpretive center, and many native plants and animals. The Center has served as a tour destination for thousands of school children for many years. Group and school tours are available by appointment.

The Friends of Shipley Nature Center is working to restore the Shipley Nature Center and to ensure that this treasure continues to serve as a nature preserve area that provides students and the public with a place to study native plants and animals. Donations can be sent to PO Box 1052, Huntington Beach CA 92647.

The Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for visitors to walk, bird watch and enjoy the eight native habitats.
