Mission Statement:  The California Academy of Sciences is comprised of a natural history museum and the Steinhart Aquarium, and is the oldest science institution on the West coast. Located in San Francisco's downtown area until 2008, the Academy is home to one of the formost natural history collections and a rigorous, global science research program. These resources ground the Academy's mission to explore and explain the natural world. The Academy's Naturalist Center has a wide range of curriculum resources for K-12 as well as support materials for college science courses.

The California Academy of Sciences offers many teacher workshops, fieldtrips, educator resource boxes (with specimens and activities), onsite school group tours, and offsite outreach programs for elementary and middle school classrooms. Please visit our website at: http://www.calacademy.org/education/outreach for more information on the programs that we offer. Scholarships are available for many of our school group tours and outreach programs.
