Mission Statement:  The Arcata Community Recycling Center’s education program is committed to promoting innovative waste reduction, reuse and recycling principles for the greater Humboldt community through school education, public relations and outreach.

How much trash do we make each day? Where does it go? How can we make less? The Arcata and Eureka Community Recycling Centers are pleased to offer a series of lessons on the important topics of recycling and waste reduction that answers these questions and more. These engaging hands-on lessons are offered free of charge to all K-12th grade classrooms within Humboldt County. Each lesson includes interactive discussion and activity portions such as investigating a vermicompost bin or making recycled paper. In addition to classroom visitations, we also offer tours of our Arcata, Eureka, and Samoa recycling facilities. The Samoa site now houses an education center offering a behind the scenes look at the recycling process. Limited funding is available to cover transportation costs for filedtrips to Samoa.

We can also assist schools who are looking to cut their disposal costs. Call for more information or to schedule a waste audit.
