EE Program/Resource Details

Provided by:   Emandal Environmental Education Camp

Description:  Our program combines the study of nature with the experience of life on a farm. Our curriculum includes daily nature explorations focusing on the watershed ecosytem and forest environment. Farm life is demonstrated through hands-on chores such as cow milking, egg gathering, gardening, and bread making,as well as special projects like shearing sheep.

As a place to learn about the environment, Emandal is unique because it is a working farm -a living model where people on a daily and year-round basis live in and interact with nature and the elements in a positive way.

The farm is comprised of 1,000 acres and is bordered by the Eel River and the Mendocion National Forest. It has been operating since 1908, and is known for its handcrafted redwood cabins, picturesque barn, two acre organic garden and delicious, .made from scratch. family style meals.
