Description: Earth Matters, Studies for Our Global Future (1998, 209 p.) is an interdisciplinary secondary level supplemental activity guide that explores global environmental, social, and economic issues. Thirty-four activities and 12 new student readings focus on human population dynamics, climate change, air pollution, water resources, deforestation, food and hunger, waste disposal, wildlife endangerment, energy, wealth and economics, women's issues, and opportunities for students to seek solutions to global problems. Activities address standards established by the International Reading Association and National Council of Teachers of English, Joint Committee on National Health Education Standards, National Center for History in the Schools at UCLA, National Science Education Standards, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council for the Social Studies, and National Council for Geographic Education.
