Description:  Created by the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Living in Water, third edition (1997, 396 p.) examines the physical and biological factors of water, and aquatic, estuarine, and marine environments. Designed as a year-long curriculum for grades 5—7, Living in Water activities are inquiry-based, requiring questioning, experimentation, and reflection on the part of the student. Recommendations for student projects and programs, including organization of an aquatic science symposium, are also included, as is a glossary, materials list, and numerous "recipes" for solutions, equipment, and test kits. Activities are consistent with the recommendations of Project 2061 Benchmarks for Scientific Literacy and the National Science Education Standards.
