Mission Statement:  The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP), established at the beginning of the century is the largest municipally-owned utility in the nation. It exists under and by virtue of the Charter of the City of Los Angeles enacted in 1925.
With a work force in excess of 8,000, the DWP provides water and electricity to some 3.9 million residents and businesses in a 465-square-mile area.

Services are available to public and private/parochial schools and teachers in the City of Los Angeles. About 80% of schools in Los Angeles Unified School District are located in the city and include most schools in the San Fernando Valley. Only these schools can be serviced.
